About Nate Green

Nate Green began his career in woodworking as an apprentice of twelve years to Carl Giesenschlag of Wildwood Studios Inc. Asheville, North Carolina. Wildwood Studios’ focus on hand built woodworking with an emphasis on architectural details that hark back to the days of the Biltmore House construction where woodworking artisans were brought in all over the world to create the ultimate masterpiece in supreme quality and design. During these years, Nate developed a deep commitment, understanding, and love of his craft as well as a profound appreciation for the intrinsic beauty of wood and it’s possibilities.
As the founder of Good Citizen’s Design Inc., and N8 Studios he continues to design and build furniture with a sensitivity for lasting quality and a reverence for the material. By relying on locally sourced logs, milled to his own specifications on site by sawyer Dan Mayer, he is able to achieve an aesthetic unity in his work where the beauty of the wood is showcased, as well as supporting sustainable forestry practices.
Nate has completed hundreds of commissioned works and installations for clients across the southeast with mediums ranging from wood to plexiglass. His current works include commissioned furniture, cabinetry, etchings in wood, polycarbonate, corian, as well as collaborative installations with artists such as Jimmy O’Neal and Jaqueline Heer.
Nate is also currently redeveloping the former French Broad School in Alexander, North Carolina. The French Broad Studios is an adaptive reuse project, transforming the French Broad School into an inclusive, cooperative and serene environment for artists, creative professionals and the local community. Located between Marshall and Asheville, and a short distance from Weaverville, Ongoing projects continue to happen here so check back for updates.
